AI Use Disclaimer

Part 1: Acceptable use

Using ContextOwl means agreeing not to:

  • Scrape, reverse-engineer, or automate access to the Service outside the normal widget/dashboard flow, including bulk-generating reports via scripts rather than the UI.
  • Share or resell account access. Your account (and any agency white-label output) is for you or your organization’s use, not for reselling access to ContextOwl itself as a service.
  • Misrepresent a report’s findings. Reports reflect specific AI systems’ outputs to specific prompts at a specific time. Using a report to make a false or misleading public claim (e.g., "AI recommends us over everyone" when the report shows mixed results) isn’t something we can control, but it’s also not something we endorse — the evidentiary detail in the report exists so you can represent findings accurately.
  • Submit brand configurations that impersonate or infringe on someone else’s trademark, or that are designed to harass or defame a competitor rather than genuinely evaluate AI visibility.
  • Attempt to bypass payment, including exploiting the free-tool/widget flow to access paid-report content without paying.
  • Use the Service in a way that violates export control or sanctions law — you confirm you’re not located in, or ordinarily resident in, a country subject to comprehensive sanctions, and you’re not on any restricted-party list.

Violating this section may result in suspension or termination of your account, per our Terms of Service.

Part 2: AI Disclaimer

This is the section that matters most for understanding what a ContextOwl report actually is.

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by OpenAI, Google, Perplexity, Anthropic, or any other AI provider named or analyzed in our reports. References to "ChatGPT," "Gemini," "Perplexity," or any other engine name are used only to describe which third-party system produced a given result — they’re trademarks of their respective owners, not ours.

AI outputs are inherently variable. The same prompt sent to the same AI system can produce a different answer on a different day, or even a different run, because of how these systems work (model updates, live web search results changing, non-deterministic generation). A report is accurate as of the moment it was generated — it is not a permanent or guaranteed characterization of how an AI system will always describe your brand.

We don’t guarantee AI outputs are correct. If an AI system says something inaccurate, outdated, or unfair about your brand, that’s a property of that AI system’s output, not something ContextOwl asserts as true. Our job is to surface and evidence what these systems are actually saying, including when it’s wrong — that’s often the most actionable finding in the report.

We don’t guarantee that acting on our recommendations changes AI outputs. Our prioritized recommendations are informed, evidence-based suggestions for improving how AI systems perceive your brand (e.g., content gaps, citation opportunities, technical readiness issues). We don’t control the AI vendors’ models, their training data, their web-search ranking, or their update cycles, so we can’t promise a specific outcome from implementing any recommendation.

Citations and excerpts are reproduced for diagnostic purposes. Where a report quotes an AI system’s output or a source it cited, that’s included so you can verify our analysis yourself — not as an endorsement of that content’s accuracy by ContextOwl.
